Why Smart Glasses Subscriptions Are a Bad Idea: L’Atitude 52°N Berlin Review (2026)

I've been reviewing smart glasses for a while now, and the story is starting to feel repetitive. The core issue with these devices is the inherent bad stuff people could do with discreetly placed cameras on their faces, like cheating in court or spying on others. Despite some decent hardware, the L'Atitude 52°N Berlin smart glasses are largely dysfunctional and frustrating. The AI features are particularly disappointing, with a wonky voice assistant that struggles to understand queries and a subscription model that adds to the frustration. The subscription model is a common trend in the smart glasses category, and it's a disappointing development. The Berlin glasses have some redeeming aspects, like decent audio and serviceable photo and video capture, but the overall experience is underwhelming. The touch controls are poorly designed, and the subscription model adds to the frustration. The battery life is okay, but not spectacular. In my opinion, the Berlin smart glasses are not worth the $400 price tag. There are better options out there, and I'd recommend taking that money and putting it towards an actual ticket to Germany for a more satisfying experience.
